The Inner Mongolian Grasslands Route team for the fourth National Youth Green Long March set out on July 10. Their first stop was Suzlon Energy Limited (Tianjin), where the team was shown around the company's assembly line for wind-powered generators and also met with representatives from the company.

The Inner Mongolian Grasslands Route team will visit Suzlon's factories, local supermarkets, communities and small villages in Tianjin and Inner Mongolia where they will research the utilization of new energy sources while at the same time promoting low-carbon awareness. The team will also go deep into Usutu National Forest Park, Damao Prairie and Kubuqi Desert on a scientific investigation of the current situation of ecosystem management of forests, prairies and deserts. In the next ten days, volunteers of the Inner Mongolian Grasslands Route team will get together with the environmental protection associations of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology to share experiences on environmental protection and discuss ideas and methods for carrying out low-carbon activities in local areas.

Initiated by Future Generations and Beijing Forestry University in 2007, the Green Long March is the country's largest youth environmental action. With the theme "Green China, Low-carbon life", the 2010 Green Long March is branched out across several routes including the Grand Canal, the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, the Northeast Forest, the Snowlands and High Plateau, the Gold Coast, and the National Treasure route. Along these routes, volunteers of the Green Long March carry out promotional and educational activities on environmental issues such as water quality, wetlands, forest protection, climatic change, grassland deterioration and the ocean.

The Prairie Route has received great help and support from the Suzlon Energy. While the team members visit the company and conduct promotion of environmental protection there, they were also given lectures on new energy sources from the engineers of the company.
