Suzlon Energy Sponsors China's 2010 Green Long MarchFebruary 5, 2010
On February 5th, 2010 Suzlon Energy announced that it will renew its sponsorship as a Gold Level Sponsor of the 2010 Green Long March Grasslands Route. This is Suzlon's second consecutive year as a Gold Level Sponsor of the March. The company's commitment is exciting news for Future Generations China as we prepare for the Green Long March Opening Ceremony, scheduled to take place on April 5th 2010.
Suzlon's support will provide university students across China with the opportunity to address issues of desertification and grasslands degradation along the Grasslands Route through education awareness campaigns on their campuses, research on regional environmental issues, and, most notably, through Green Seed Award project implementation. Green Seed Awards are small grants that will provide student participants with the resources needed to identify and expand upon regional best practices for grasslands management, ecotourism and water management in and around Baotou and Hohhot City in Inner Mongolia.
In addition to Suzlon's support of Green Long March core activities, the wind power company will also collaborate with student volunteers to conduct a carbon-auditing project during the summer of 2010. The undertaking will provide students with the hands-on opportunity to calculate the carbon footprint of turbine manufacturing and business operations in China. Future Generations China looks forward to continued partnership with Suzlon Energy.
