CASE STUDIES ARE FOCUS AT THIRD DAY OF GLM TRAINING CONFERENCEApril 3, 2009

The third day of student training as part of the 2009 GLM National Training Conference began with a lecture from Edwin Chan of GLM Gold Sponsor Goldman Sachs Gao Hua on the importance of the case studies in this year's GLM projects. Mr Chan explained the components of a successful study and briefed students on problems they may have with analysis and subsequent creation of conservation projects. The case studies will provide students with vital information needed to design student-led, community-based a projects that aimed at dealing with issues related to energy production and consumption.

After a short break for lunch, students reconvened for a three-hour session of workshops. Edwin Chan led a workshop on the case studies that provided students with an opportunity to more openly discuss questions they may have. Kui Li, Future Generations China employee and GreenSOS Environmental Education Coordinator in Sichuan, talked about the best ways to carry out environmental education in schools. In addition, she offered useful resources and books that volunteers may refer to before activities. Prof. Tian Qing of Tsinghua University introduced students to BP's innovative carbon calculator and encouraged them to make use of it for educational purposes and in conjuction with their GLM projects.
