STUDENTS DISCUSS CLIMATE CHANGE, WIND ENERGY AS THE SECOND DAY OF GREEN LONG MARCH TRAININGApril 2, 2009

Green Long March (GLM) student volunteers just completed their first full day of training at Beijing Forestry University (BFU). Students arrived in the morning to attend a lecture by Dr. Yang Fuqiang, a leading Chinese climate and energy expert. Dr. Yang spoke to the students about the causes and effects of climate change and in particular how it could impact China. The lecture was followed by a screening of "The Road Ahead: The First Green Long March," the award-winning documentary about the 2007 GLM.

After lunch, students attended a meeting of Communist Youth League representatives to discuss their environmental clubs and programs and attended a lecture about wind energy, presented by Gold Sponsor Suzlon Energy's Wang Yang. This was followed by team building exercises in the BFU stadium.

Students wrapped up the day by breaking into three groups after dinner to discuss their universities' GLM campaigns of past years and their plans for the future. Students also offered personal stories of their GLM experience and gave valuable comments and suggestions to the teachers and leaders present.

All are tired after a full day of activities, but will be ready again for tomorrow's lectures and workshops.
